Displaying photographic images as unique as their creator, Alice Martin’s Northwest Art gallery hosts a grand opening this Saturday at the Aquarium Village in South Beach.

Martin, a longtime Alaska resident, credits her mother with endowing her with a love for the creative process, starting with private art and music classes at age seven.

“I have to be creating something all the time,” she said.

Early in her career, she worked as an award-winning professional clay artist, teaching at her private studio and as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Alaska in Anchorage. Vice President Walter Mondale and his wife, Joan, displayed one of Martin’s porcelain vases in the vice president’s official residence in Washington, D.C.
