‘Unlikely Fabrics’ is topic for quilt guild program

Appliqué artist Michele Byrum will be the featured speaker at the Oregon Coastal Quilters Guild (OCQG) meeting Thursday, Feb. 14, in Atonement Lutheran Church’s fellowship hall, 2315 N. Coast Highway in Newport. “Table walk,” which offers the opportunity to see and participate in various guild activities, begins at 6 p.m.; the general meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.

The “trunk show” of Byrum’s work, titled “Single-Fabric Flowers,” will include quilts showcasing appliqué made from unlikely fabrics, such as flowers made from a horse print fabric. She will also outline the process she uses to develop her appliqués and will describe her quilting journey.
