Longtime Lincoln City employee Mary Bono was recognized for 25 years of distinguished service during a recent Lincoln City Council meeting, where the dedicated member of the finance department tracks and records millions of dollars of transactions. Finance Director Debbie Mammone described Bono as “a great employee who quietly goes about doing her work” yet has a significant impact on day-to-day affairs. In 2012, she told councilors, Bono processed 3,391 outgoing checks worth $11 million to local businesses and other vendors who rely on the city’s timely payment of bills to meet their own payrolls. Mayor Dick Anderson lauded Bono’s “rare” example of long-term commitment, while City Manager David Hawker called her presence “comforting” and her execution of responsibilities “flawless almost without exception.”
