Holly Lynn Gardner and Carl Darrin Loescher, of Newport, Ore., announce their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Jeff Gardner and Kerri Gardner, both of Newport. In 2010, she earned a bachelor of science degree in communication disorders and sciences at the University of Oregon in Eugene. She is employed at Coast Hearing Services in Newport as a hearing instrument specialist/certified occupational hearing conservationist.

Her fiancé is the son of Dave Loescher, of Freeport, Ill. and Cindy Gerke, of Keizer. In 2008, he graduated with a bachelor of arts in history and business from University of Oregon in Eugene. He is employed with Coast Hearing Services in Newport as temporary hearing instrument specialist.

They are active volunteers at community health fairs, talking to people about the latest in hearing technology, and Holly provides complimentary hearing screenings. Darrin sings lead in the Coastal-Aires Barbershop Chorus.

The couple plan to be married this year, with a location still to be determined.
