Newport tweaks language in bag ban ordinance

NEWPORT – Newport City Councilors on Tuesday tweaked the language in a proposed plastic bag ordinance before sending it out to voters this spring.

Newport drafted the proposed ordinance based on a similar ordinance passed by the Corvallis City Council last year. Changes made this week include limiting the amount retailers can charge consumers for paper bags to 5 cents.
