Beaver Creek motorcycle run cancelled
After 30 years, the sound of music and the roar of motorcycles will be silenced the second weekend of August on South Beaver Creek Road. Lincoln County A.B.A.T.E. is announcing the cancellation of the annual event.
Started as a fundraiser 30 years ago when the local A.B.A.T.E. chapter formed, it has hosted an average of 500 and as many as 1,000 people for a campout on the Leckner farm. In its time, it has provided the chapter with the funds to run projects, including various Christmas projects, and its annual Senior Thanksgiving Dinner, and it has brought thousands of dollars to the local community coffers.
A.B.A.T.E. currently meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the Newport American Legion Hall, 424 W. Olive St. in Newport. Anyone interested in motorcycles and motorcycle issues is invited to attend. For the complete article see the 01-25-2013 issue.
