Coastal Gems to walk in Newport

The Coastal Gems invite people on a walk through historic Newport on Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Meet the group at 9 a.m. at the Yachats Commons, 441 Highway 101 N., to carpool to Newport, or meet at 9:45 a.m. at the Hallmark Resort, 744 SW Elizabeth St. in Newport.

The Coastal Gems walk in any weather, so people should come prepared.

The Newport historic trail is a 10K rated 2a for a few short steep hills, but generally flat smooth surfaces. The trail is not appropriate for wheelchairs, and strollers would be moderately difficult. For those who want a shorter walk, there is a 5K option.
