Mark “Marko” Knighton, 66, of Toledo, Ore., died Dec. 14, 2012.

He was born Sept. 25, 1946 to Margaret and Elmer Knighton in Los Angeles, Calif. He graduated from Sierra High School in California in 1964. He joined the Navy and served from Nov. 16, 1964 through Nov. 13, 1967, where he made E-4 and served most of his time as a medical assistant at Camp Pendleton and San Diego, Calif.

He later moved to Cascadia, Ore. and then settled in the Newport area with his friend and significant other, Sherri Vitaris. They were blessed with three wonderful children.

He eventually moved to Toledo, where he drove truck for Henry’s Trucking and other trucking companies. He traveled many states driving truck. He especially liked Texas, where he loved hanging out with his very good friends, Allen and Kathy White.

He loved the outdoors and riding around in the woods. He worked a little in a couple of the local bars in Toledo, where he made numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Elmer Knighton.

He is survived by his daughter, Poppy Jane Manhan of Ashland; sons, Mikail and Tobin Knighton, of Tangent; brother, Jim Knighton, of Washington; and two grandchildren.

Marko touched many lives, so a celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Timbers Restaurant and Lounge, 181 S. Main St. in Toledo.
