Former governor speaks at Writers on the Edge

Writers on the Edge presents an evening with former Oregon governor Barbara Roberts at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Newport Visual Arts Center at 777 NW Beach Dr. in Nye Beach.

A descendant of Oregon Trail pioneers, Roberts served from 1991-1995 as the first and only woman elected governor of the State of Oregon. From 1985-1991, she served as Oregon’s Secretary of State, the first democrat elected to that post in 114 years. She was elected to the state House of Representatives, serving from 1981-1985.
