About 80 people trekked from the Yachats Commons to the Amanda Trail bridge on the north side of Cape Perpetua on New Year’s Day. Hiking on a clear, cold morning, the group included all age groups, families with children, and delighted canine companions. At the bridge, the sound of flutes rose into the air. Chair of the Yachats Trails Committee Lauralee Svendsgaard spoke of the community spirit and dedication. Pictured are Yachats Trail Committee members who cleaned up the Amanda Trail in preparation for the third annual Peace Hike on New Year’s Day.
