Port of Newport Manager Don Mann points out facilities and land available at the port’s international terminal site to Belinda Batten, director of the Northwest National Marine Renewable Energy Center. Batten toured sites in Toledo and Newport on Jan. 4. A coalition of Lincoln County government, civic and business leaders have submitted a proposal to NNMREC to be the home base for $25 million dollar deep water wave energy research site. Reedsport is also in the hunt to host the Pacific Marine Energy Center site. Batten said she will announce her decision by Jan. 15.
