Lauralee Svendsgaard of Yachats has become the newest appointee to the Oregon Recreation Trails Advisory Council (ORTAC), but she is far from a newcomer to the world of trail use, construction and programs.
Svendsgaard brings extensive experience to her new role where she will help ORTAC advise the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Commission and the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department on the development of trails and the Statewide Trails Plan. Her background as a hike leader, interpreter, trail building crew leader, chair of the Yachats Trails Committee, and executive director of the California Trails Conference Foundation is expected to help ORTAC achieve its goals of ensuring that trails are established both near the urban areas of the state and to the highly scenic, as well as more remote areas.
