Dozens of surfers and paddle-boarders spent last weekend enjoying the northwest end of Yaquina Bay, especially the water just below the state park where there is a steady run of modest rollers. The bay was particularly busy over the weekend as crab boats traveled in and out during the 64-hour pre-soak period that opened the season. Crab fishermen began harvesting their catch at 12:01 a.m. Monday.
