Oregon Coast Ballet Company's traditional "Little Nutcracker" has a new twist this year, due to the mischievous MouseKing, played by Tyler Teich.

This “Nutcracker” brings rock ‘n’ roll and Tchaikovsky together in a performance that energizes a traditional Christmas classic. Students ages 4 to adult from Sian Zander’s Newport School of Dance join OCBC on stage this weekend at the Newport Performing Arts Center.

Teich, 17, of Newport, will graduate from Newport High School this year and has danced for 10 years.

“My mom stuck me into a class when I was small, and then I just kind of kept doing it, and I didn’t stop,” he said. “Now I have a passion to be an actor, so I guess it kind of worked out that way.”
