On a typically stormy December night with gale force winds forecast for later, lines were cast for the 19th annual Lighted Boat Parade on Newport’s Yaquina Bay Saturday, Dec.
The U.S. Coast Guard’s motor lifeboat Victory, from Station Yaquina Bay, lead the parade again this year. It was followed by 16 decorated recreational, charter and research boats, including four passenger boats from Marine Discovery Tours, Newport Trade Winds and Newport Marina Store and Charters, with 84 guests tucked aboard. This festive fundraiser launched the annual Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital Foundation “Festival of Trees” event.
