Chorale concerts scheduled in December

The Central Coast Chorale will present two performances of its annual winter concert, “Wishes and Candles,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at the Newport Performing Arts Center, and again at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the First Presbyterian Church in Newport. Admission is by donation at the door, suggested $8 per person, but no one will be turned away.

The music repertoire for the concerts includes a broad variety of seasonal pieces, some familiar and some not usually performed. The familiar Benjamin Britten set of pieces, “A Ceremony of Carols,” will be sung in a bit different style, accompanied by harpist Martha Griffith.
