The central coast has a youth symphony orchestra thanks to the efforts of the Newport Symphony Orchestra and musicians Kathy Follett and Barbara Wilcox.
On Saturday, Dec. 1, 16 young string and woodwind players, sitting alongside adults also learning to play, gave a performance of more than 15 musical pieces for the holidays. Music filled the rafters of the Newport’s First Presbyterian Church. The performance was conducted by Kathy Follett, violinist for the Newport Symphony Orchestra.
