Fish waste disposal expensive, problematic

Disposal of fish carcasses during the sport fishing seasons is becoming increasingly expensive and problematic for Lincoln County’s three major harbors.

The City of Depoe Bay, Port of Newport and Port of Alsea all allow recreational anglers to place the remains of salmon, tuna, crab and other catches in dumpsters that are then removed by their respective disposal contractors and hauled to Coffin Butte Landfill near Corvallis.
