Bevra Mary Birchard

Bevra Mary Birchard, 83, of Newport, Ore., died Nov. 18, 2012 in Newport.

She was born Dec. 6, 1928 to Loren and Orral (Hagan) Harris in Glendive, Mont. In 1949, Bevra married Robert Birchard in Spokane, Wash. She was a loving mother to her son and two daughters.

Bevra and Bob retired to Spokane. Gardening was her passion. She carefully planted her flowers so that something was in bloom from the earliest spring days until the cold of winter settled in.

Bevra and Bob moved to Newport in 1995. Bevra took advantage of the cool climate and grew some of the most beautiful begonias in Newport.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and son, Daniel.

She is survived by her daughters, Devra Birchard of Tyler, Wash. and Stephanie (Simon) Gibson of Australia; granddaughter, Megan (Bryan) Jackson of Lacy, Wash.; and one great-grandson.
