Workers Tom Chastain, left, and Kevin Bryan, from the Oregon Department of Transportation, erected a sobriety reminder Tuesday on U.S. Highway in Newport, sponsored by the family of three-year-old Judith Cueva-Luna, who was killed by a drunk driver on March 11, 2011. Four members of the family and an interpreter conducted a roadside memorial service at the site, located along the northbound shoulder east of Walmart. Bryan said memorial signs serve a dual purpose by comforting survivors and “giving the public a heads-up” about drunk driving.
