William ‘Bill’ Inman
William “Bill” Inman, 78, of Lincoln City, Ore., died Nov. 18, 2012.

He was born Oct. 24, 1934 in Culver City, Calif. He was raised in Culver City and San Francisco. He studied music and finished high school in McMinnville, Ore.

Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving three years during the Korean War, including temporary duty touring Germany and entertaining the troops with his music.

As a professional pianist, Bill played the Northwest circuit until retirement in 1971. He then attended Portland State University, Chemeketa Community College and received his master’s degree from Western Oregon State College in 1989.

During Bill’s hard-earned, 38 years of sobriety, he mentored, encouraged and served others through his personal and musical involvements in churches, Alcoholics Anonymous, senior centers and care homes. Most important to him was learning to “let go and let God,” one day at a time.

Bill and his wife, Marian, moved from McMinnville to Mesa, Ariz., and they also lived in Dallas, Ore. before moving to Depoe Bay in 2008.

He was preceded in death by three wives, Geraldine Morgan, Margaret Lytle and Marian Gast.

He is survived by his stepdaughters, Karlene Arnett and Charlotte Lyman, of Dallas; step-grandchildren, David Arnett, Susan Crabill, Travis Remington, Jesse Remington, Caleb Remington and Amanda Gast; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.

Bill was laid to rest on Nov. 23, 2012 at the Green Crest Memorial Park in Sheridan, with his family present.

A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Oceanlake Christian Church at 2100 NE 21st St. in Lincoln City.

Adamson’s Sheridan Funeral Home in Sheridan is handling arrangements.
