Man claims land is sliding at hillside home

NEWPORT - A collapsed deck, a toppled retaining wall, growing cracks in neighborhood driveways and a manhole cover that seems to grow out of the road are clues to one resident of a hilly northeast Newport neighborhood that the ground is slowly moving, and with it a half-dozen homes on NE 70th St.
