Native American art of Oregon is program topic

Posted: Friday, Nov 9th, 2012

Tracy Prince

What differentiates Native American art in Oregon from Native art in other parts of the Pacific Northwest, and what might this tell people about the state’s identity? How are Oregon’s history and culture represented in Native American art and how can people learn more about the community’s values and aspirations by looking at the artwork?

These topics are the focus of “Uniquely Oregon: Native American Art of Oregon,” a conversation with Portland State University scholar-in-residence Tracy Prince at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Carriage House of the Lincoln County Historical Society, 545 SW Ninth St., Newport.
