Randy L. Abbott
Randy L. Abbott, 61, of Newport, Ore., died unexpectedly on Oct. 9, 2012.

He was born Jan. 18, 1951 to Charlotte Diane “Charlie” LaMarr and Raymond Dennis in southern California. Randy had two sisters, Denise and Deborah, whom he loved very much. Randy attended Mark Keppel High School in Alhambra, Calif. where he was both an outstanding student and athlete.

He married Christine Coughlin in 1971, and they had two children, Dennis and Katrina. Randy and Christine raised their children in Fresno, Calif.

He was an extremely bright and creative man who possessed numerous talents. While his “occupation” was that of a lineman for Pacific Gas & Electric, he could do almost anything with his hands and mind. He was a skilled carpenter, mechanic, electrician and painter. Randy retired early in his career and spent that last dozen years in Oregon.

Randy was truly a “people” person. He could make friends out of perfect strangers within just a few minutes. The last thing to arrive in his mail was a letter from a man he had just met the week prior; the new friend wrote about how much he enjoyed their conversations and how he couldn’t wait to see him again. That was the affect he could have on people.

Randy leaves behind several long time long loving friends and his extended family in Oregon, California, and Texas, who will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his two children, Dennis Abbott and Katrina Jacobs; sisters, Denise Archambault and Deborah Case; grandchildren, Hayley Abbott and Natalie Abbott; and several nieces and nephews.

His remains will be scattered during a private ceremony in southern California on his 62nd birthday.
