Firefighters, inmate crews keep watch over Kimberling Mountain Road fire

Posted: Friday, Oct 12th, 2012

Gail Kimberling and Dave Kimberling returned home on Oct. 5, to find crews from the Oregon Department of Forestry, North Lincoln Fire and Rescue, U.S. Forest Service and members of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office working to warn nearby residents of a fire that started near the Kimberlings’ home on Kimberling Mountain Road in Otis last Friday. ODF officials are investigating the cause of the fire, which put the residents of 12 other homes on alert for potential evacuation, according to Michael Curran, ODF Wildland Fire Supervisor for Lincoln and Tillamook Counties. The Kimberlings were not home at the time, but Gail said that they learned of the fire when the phone started ringing off the hook and her son heard about the fire while he was at the hardware store.
