Virginia ‘Ginger’ Kennedy


Virginia Ellen “Ginger” Kennedy, 81, of Waldport, Ore., died Oct. 8, 2012.

She was born June 29, 1931 to Robert and Hulda (Turnbull) Hale in Hoquiam, Wash. Ginger’s family moved to Telluride, Colo., to Ouray, Colo. and then to California where she attended Chula Vista High School.

She later moved to San Diego where she married her first husband and they had four children and 10 years later moved to Sacramento, Calif.

After her divorce, Ginger and the children moved to Salem, Ore. and then to Yachats where she met Donald Kennedy. Ginger and Don married on Dec. 14, 1973 in Yachats and in 1974 settled in Waldport.

Ginger was the District Manager for Avon, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Waldport, loved painting and working in arts and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Hulda (Turnbull) Hale; and sons Jerry and Noble Carlton.

She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Don Kennedy; daughter, Linda Carlton; sons, Robert Carlton and Raymond Kennedy; sister, Barbara Rambo; and three grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1006 Range Dr. in Waldport with visitation being held one hour prior to service in the Relief Society Room. Burial will follow at Alder Grove Cemetery in Waldport.

Bateman Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
