Newport accepts $6.3 million airport grant

NEWPORT - The city council last week accepted a $6.3 million grant award from the Federal Aviation Administration to rehabilitate an aging runway at the city airport and awarded a contract that will reduce the stench of sewer along a popular trail near Big Creek Park.
