October is National Information Literacy Awareness Month

President Barack Obama proclaimed October as National Information Literacy Awareness Month in 2009; and Governor John Kitzhaber has proclaimed October 2012 as Information Literacy Month.

Information literacy plays a critical role in people’s everyday lives. In today’s information society knowing how to find, analyze, synthesize, and utilize effectively information at home, in school and in the workplace is an essential key pathway to professional, personal and academic success.
