The Undertow performs Saturday at Nauti Mermaid

A new Lincoln County band, The Undertow, plans to focus on reggae music and will debut this month. Their first performance is from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, at the Nauti Mermaid, 1343 NW Highway 101 in Lincoln City.

Professional drummer and percussionist Rodney Turner, who toured nationally for 15 years with such major reggae bands as Ziggy Marley, Steel Pulse, Boss Skank Band, Fishbone and Burning Spear, is putting the band together. Turner said the group will play other genres but “the focus will be on reggae and especially on high energy dance music with the reggae beat.”
