NEWPORT - Students in Newport High School’s Education for Community Employment and Life (ECEL) class will have a chance to get cooking this month, thanks to a partnership between multiple agencies, including the Lincoln County School District and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
The six-week course utilizes the Cooking Matters curriculum used in classes sponsored by Food Share of Lincoln County and will be taught by Sara Birman, who cooks in the Lincoln County Jail. A representative of Ten Rivers Food Web and two educational assistants from the ECEL program will also assist in the weekly courses.
