Vera Mae Roseland, 86, of Newport, Ore., died July 14, 2012.
She was born March 9, 1926 to Alonza B. and Rebecca Ann (Fleming) Kelly in McKeseport, Pa. Growing up in California, Vera met and married Ted Roseland, a young marine, in 1944. She and Ted moved to Oregon in 1965 after visiting on a vacation and seeing the best place to live.
One of Vera’s greatest joys was her love of flowers and gardening, especially roses - growing, showing, visiting gardens and sharing the stories with those around her. Vera enjoyed the Red Hat ladies and the lunches they held. She was also known for her collection of plates and tea cups, but mostly her love of Christmas and the Santas she collected.
She is survived by her husband, Ted; daughters, Sandy Morris of Corvallis, Cindy (Ralph) Smith of Salem and Debe (Steve) Arbona of Newport; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
