James Harold Tatum, 80, of Depoe Bay, Ore., died March 15, 2012 in Corvallis, Ore.
He was born Nov. 16, 1931 to Tony B. and Lois (Fulbright) Tatum in Hillsboro, Texas. James graduated from high school and served his country in the United States Air Force for four years.
In 1955, he married Ina Jean Collins. James repaired aircraft before joining the Rainbow Bakery in Sacramento, Calif., where he worked for 22 years.
James and Ina retired to Depoe Bay. James was never one to sit around for too long and soon began work as the janitor at the Depoe Bay Post Office. He held that job for 20 years.
He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lincoln City. He enjoyed attending church and spending time with his sons and family.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Larson and Barbara Tabor.
He is survived by his wife, Ina; sons, Mike of Depoe Bay and Rusty of California; brothers, Charles, Clark and Tony, all from Sacramento; and granddaughters, Sarah Tatum and Stephanie Tatum, of California.
His final resting place is at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore.
