Crash ends high-speed chase

After receiving a report of a suicidal individual on his way to the Yaquina Bay Bridge, law enforcement officers engaged in a pursuit of this white Ford Mustang. Officers pursued the vehicle from Newport to Waldport and back as they attempted to stop the vehicle to determine Mark Timothy Trunk’s mental state. Pursuit ended when Trunk stopped on the bridge and was hit from behind by an Oregon State Police trooper. No injuries were reported. (Courtesy photo)

Police stop man from jumping off Yaquina Bay Bridge

NEWPORT – Pursuit of a suicidal subject through Lincoln County reached speeds of 90 miles per hour on July 4 before it ended in a non-injury crash involving an Oregon State Police vehicle.
