Shirley Ann Thompson

Shirley Ann Thompson, 74, of Toledo, Ore., died of cancer on June 29, 2012 at her home.

She was born Sept. 24, 1937 to Arthur and Lila Plumoff in Fairmont, Minn. Shirley grew up in Minnesota and was the youngest of seven children. She met and married Marlow V. Rich and together they had four children. They moved to Oregon in 1958. She later married Ronald O. Thompson and they moved to Toledo.

She worked at the Lakeshore Lodge in Lakeside from 1972 to 1989 and then retired. She was an avid gardener and loved to dance. Other favorite pastimes were puzzles, fishing and crabbing.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Thompson; parents, Arthur and Lila; and brothers, Merle and Marlon.

She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Smith and Darla Haga; and sons, Michael and Timothy (Denise) Rich.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Newport.
