Fire departments receive four-year grant

To get more people on the first engine to a fire scene, Newport and Depoe Bay Fire Departments implemented a volunteer stipend program. On July 5, they announced receipt of a federal Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant to continue the program.
