Evelyn Aileen Stauss, 81, of Waldport, Ore., died of a stroke on Jan. 31, 2012 in Corvallis, Ore.
She was born Oct. 18, 1930 to Floyd Gerkin and Lora Mae Early in French Lick, Ind. She moved all over the United States as a youngster. In June 1948, she graduated from Modesto High School in Modesto Calif.
On Dec. 10, 1973, she married Anthony Stauss in Reno, Nev.
For 37 years, she worked as an Avon Representative. She was a licensed day care provider for 30 years - in California and for the past 21 years in Waldport.
She was a member of the National Association of Avon Collectors, Gold Coast Control CB Radio Club and the San Jose Runabouts Camping Club.
She enjoyed collecting Avon and clocks, travel, riding four-wheelers and miniature motorcycles and ATVs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Gerkin and Lora Mae Early; sons, Stephen O’ Hagan and Curtis O’ Hagan; and brothers, Elsie Gerkin, Glen Gerkin and Wayne Gerkin.
She is survived by her husband Anthony Stauss of Waldport; children, Lela Brazile of Waldport, Lyndi Hensley of North Bend, Ore., Lora Jeanne Blaker of Austin, Texas, Michael O’ Hagan of Waldport, Debra Schmidt of Austin, Chris Stauss of Yachats and Jillian Christianson of Florence; and more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A family memorial service was held Feb. 4, 2012 at the Waldport Senior Center. She will be laid to rest in a service at 2 p.m. July 9, 2012 at Eureka Cemetery in Newport. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
