Man in fatal ATV incident identified

LOGSDEN – Investigators aren’t sure how the all-terrain vehicle accident that killed a Logsden man occurred on May 31, but they have identified the individual involved.

James Smith, 76, of Logsden, was riding an ATV and towing logs down a logging road when, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the ATV tipped over.

Fifteen minutes later, his family discovered the accident and called 9-1-1, according to LCSO. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. Personnel from the Siletz Rural Fire Protection District and Pac-West Ambulance also responded to the scene.
