Peter Andrew Clarke

Peter Andrew Clarke, 83, of Newport, Ore., died May 10, 2012 at his home.

He was born April 29, 1929 to Peter and Elizabeth Clarke in Glasgow, Scotland. He met and married Rose T. Keating, who was a nurse at Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow.

Peter served four years in the Royal Army in the medical corps. He was a graduate of the Glasgow Police Academy and worked as a police officer for eight years in Glasgow.

Peter also graduated from La Salle University in Chicago, Ill. with a degree in law. He and Rose moved their family to southern California in 1958. They settled in Covina, Calif. and raised their family.

He was a senior claims specialist for State Farm Insurance Company for 27 years. In 1992, he and Rose retired and moved to Scio. Peter’s love of the ocean prompted them to move to Newport in 2007.

Peter had a great love of the ocean and opera music, but his greatest love was his wife, Rose, his family and friends. He had a way of making people feel special and loved. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; son, Andrew; brother, Robert Clarke; and sister, Elizabeth “Betty” McDonald.

He is survived by his children, Moira, Peter (Bobbie) Clarke, Judith (John) Viereck, Stephen (Barbara) Clarke, Paul (Trudy) Clarke and Rosemairhi Robinson; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date in Glasgow Scotland.
