A scheduled maintenance outage at Georgia-Pacific’s Toledo mill turned into something more serious on Wednesday, with one employee going to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport for observation after a small fire was discovered in the #3 paper machine.
Mill spokesman Tom Picciano said the fire was discovered around 6:15 p.m., as employees were bringing the machine online after maintenance. “There was a small fire in the dryer section of the machine,” Picciano said. For the complete article see the 07-29-2011 issue.
