Join county residents at the Trail Blazers

Lincoln County residents are invited to watch the Portland Trail Blazers take the court against the Washington Wizards at 7 p.m. Friday, March 19 at the Rose Garden in Portland.

Seats in the Rose Gardenís purple level are available for the discounted price of $22 each for the game. An optional bus ride, provided by Lincoln City Parks and Recreation, is $8 per person.

The evening is open to county residents of all ages. Tickets and bus seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are required no later than Monday, Feb. 15.

Turn in orders and payment (cash or checks only) to Lincoln City Community Center, 2150 NE Oar Place, Lincoln City, OR 97367. For more information, contact Ivan Mangum, recreation specialist with Lincoln City Parks and Rec, at 541-994-2131.

Coast Festival Run on the horizon

The Coast Hills Running Club is presenting the Coast Festival Run on Saturday, Feb. 27.

This 5K run/walk starts at 9 a.m. at the Performing Arts Center. The course takes runners and walkers into Nye Beach, out to Yaquina Bay Park, around the old lighthouse, and back to the Performing Arts Center.

The run is held in 40-mile per hour winds, and on beautiful days.

Race day registration begins at 8 a.m. at the PAC. Shirts are only guaranteed to participants who pre-register by Feb. 20. Forms can be picked up at ME Fitness, the Newport Recreation Center, or by e-mail.

All proceeds go to benefit kids running programs.

Register now for Tae Kwon do

The Newport Recreation Center is offering Tae Kwon Do classes for ages 7 and up

Mondays and Wednesdays. Youth classes are from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Adults are scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Cost is $30 per month. Instructor is Tim Anderson.

Tae Kwon Do emphasizes self-control and self-discipline, and is an excellent way to gain confidence and a positive self-image.

Anyone interested in the martial arts is encouraged to attend a class and meet with instructor Tim Anderson prior to registering. Call 541-265-7783 for more information.
