Edna Rhoda Dillon, 87, of Lincoln City, Ore., died of heart failure on Oct. 31, 2009 at her home.
She was born Oct. 27, 1922 to John Woods and Pearl Woodland in Council, Idaho. She attended various colleges throughout her life.
She was a woman of many talents and interests, and held many occupations, including working as a “grease monkey” during World War II.
She owned a floral shop and café and also worked as a dietician.
She enjoyed crafts and floral arranging. She wrote many short stories and was published in Guidepost, newspapers and various magazines.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, garden club and writers club. She had many interests and hobbies and loved to travel and try new things. Her favorite trip was a cruise to the Caribbean with her daughters, Gloria and Diana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Dillon; children, Claude Dillon and Betty-Jean Dillon; sisters, Maple Anderson and Addie Heiser; brother, Nolan Woods; and grandsons, Billy Dillon and Keagan Dillon.
She is survived by her children, Lee (Marilyn) Dillon, Gloria (Don) Coffman, Nita (Flurry) Stone, Ken (Cynthia) Dillon, Diana (Gary) Saner, Jim (Jo Lynn) Dillon, Cindy (Bryan) McLean; 30 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral and celebration of life, with a reception following, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Life in Christ Center Church, 3095 Cherry Heights Road in The Dalles. Private interment will be at Indian Valley Cemetery in Idaho.
