Sabine Leontine Waters, 92, a resident of Oceanview Senior Living, passed away January 23, 2014 in Newport, OR. Sabine was born in Brussels, Belgium on September 9, 1922 to Pierre Reyniers and Augusta Haspeslagh Reyniers.
In September 1945, Sabine married a soldier, Roy Waters, in Brussels, Belgium. As a result, she proudly joined the exclusive group, “Flemish War Brides.” They settled in Richland, WA where they raised two girls. In September of 2011, the couple celebrated their 66th anniversary in Newport, OR, where they had been retired from the New York corporate world since 1983. They enjoyed many trips abroad.

Her collection of Flemish Art was proudly exhibited throughout the home. Her devotion to family and friends was unparalleled. Sabine became an advocate for American Indian causes and contributed regularly to their charities.
Sabine was preceded in death by her sister Germaine Pedersen, husband Roy, and daughter Diane Stark. Sabine is survived by her daughter Patricia Smith, of Portland, and three grandchildren, Robert Haggard, of West Richland, WA, Austin Smith, of Lake Oswego, OR, Rebecca Smith, of Seattle, WA.
