Bobby Gene Roberts, 74, of Salem, Ore., formerly of Newport, Ore., died Dec. 4, 2012 in Salem.

He was born July 9, 1938 to Felix Clifton and Jessie Elsie (Smith) Roberts in DeKalb, Texas. He graduated from DeKalb High School in 1957.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from Oct. 9, 1961 to Oct. 8, 1967. He worked for Pacific Northwest Bell/Qwest as a lineman for 32 years.

Bobby became a minister of God through Harvest Network Ministries in 1994. He prayed and led many children and adults to Jesus Christ during his life. He went on three missionary trips - two to Chile, South America and one to Baja, Mexico. The lives he touched will continue to touch others and produce more seeds.

He was a member of the Abundant Life Center in Toledo, Ore. and Word in Spirit Fellowship in Salem.

Bobby enjoyed serving God and others. He loved praying for those in need and reaching out to love the unlovable. His mission was spreading the word of God to the world.

He also loved horses and broke broncos as a teenager with his grandpa, John. He loved flying airplanes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Elsie Roberts; and siblings, Clifton Felix Roberts, Miley Marie Roberts Clark, Alta May Roberts, Billy Jo Roberts, Pete Lewis Roberts, Robert Lee Roberts and Shirley Ann Roberts Noltey.

He is survived by his wife of nine years, Ronda (Ronnie Sue) Roberts of Salem; children, Rachel Snook of Portland, Clifton (Stephani) Roberts of Salem, Shannon (DJ) Goodell of Siletz, Nikki (Octavio) Roque of Salem, and Kevin (Delyne) Steele of Aumsville; sister, Thelma Peacock of Clarksville, Texas and brother-in-law, BF Clark of Midland, Texas; and 15 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Abundant Life Center, 1154 NW A St. in Toledo. He will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

Affordable Burial and Cremation is handling arrangements.
