Wayne Leroy Case II


Wayne Leroy Case II, 51, of Siletz, Ore., died Oct. 9, 2012 at his home.

He was born Feb. 11, 1961 to Wayne Leroy Case Sr. and Rosie Smith in Tacoma, Wash.

He earned his GED in Tacoma, and lived there for 38 years before moving to Siletz. He was married to Lizabeth John; they had four children together. Later, he had another daughter and moved back to Siletz and met Joelle Strong. They have been companions since 1999.

He was a member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, Chippewa, Sioux and Yakima tribes.

He loved to go fishing and also hunting. He loved to play with his dog, Missy. He liked to watch TV at home. He loved visiting with his children and grandchildren. He loved to go play bingo.

He was preceded in death by his mother Rosie Smith.

He is survived by his long time companion, Joella Strong of Siletz; father, Wayne Leroy Case Sr. of Siletz; children, Venetia Rose Case of Tacoma, Wayne Leroy Case III of Tacoma, Kathleen Marie Case of Tacoma, Suzanna Katie Case of Tacoma and Jacqueline Jerry of Muckleshoot, Wash.; stepchildren, Angela Martin, Corey Klina, Marcos Muniz-Strong and Rosa Mason; siblings, Kevin Case of Siletz, Steven LaPointe of Tacoma, Doug Case of Yakima and Lawney LaPointe of Tacoma; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A wake was held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Tribal Dance House. A traditional funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 at the Siletz Tribal Community Center. A final burial ceremony will immediately follow the funeral service at the Paul Washington Cemetery and potluck feast (reception) afterwards at the Tribal Center.

Memorial Donations may be made to Affordable Burial and Cremation.
