Merwin A. Donelson, 64, of Newport, Ore., died Nov. 11, 2009 at his home.

He was born Feb. 23, 1945 to Halleck and Theodora Ted Donelson in McMinnville. He graduated from Newport High School in 1963.

On July 8, 1989, he married Beth Van Hooren in Newport.

He was a longtime employee of Henderson’s Furniture, owned and operated Donelson’s Appliance Repair Shop for 15 years, and spent seven years working for Chinook Winds Casino.

He was a charter member of Bay City Cruisers and was involved with various fraternal organizations.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Halleck and Theodora Donelson, and brother, Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Donelson of Newport; son, Tyson Redifer of Hillsboro; sister, Keta Perry of South Beach; brother, Milton Donelson of Corvallis; granddaughter, Brittany Redifer of Hillsboro; three nephews and numerous grandnephews and grandnieces.

A celebration of life will be at a later date.
