Jonathan Damon Strickland, 32, of Lincoln City, Ore., died Oct. 22, 2009 at his home.

He was born Oct. 30, 1976 to Richard Strickland and Angela Gibson in Portland. He graduated from Newport High School in 1995.

He worked as contractor. He was an avid collector of Beatles memorabilia and was a devoted Clyde Drexler and Portland Trailblazer fan. He was a wonderful father to his children and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was a polite young man and a people person who made friends easily.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Strickland, and grandmother Valerie Frederick.

He is survived by his life partner, Shannon Rethaford of Lincoln City; children, Vanessa and Jonathan; mother, Angie Gibson of Newport; father, Kent (Lucy) Gibson of Newport; stepmother, Betty Strickland of Portland; siblings, Tim (Gaye) Spencer of Five Rivers and Katie Gibson of Newport.

A celebration of life was held Oct. 25 at the Yaquina Bay Yacht Club in Newport. Memorial donations may be made in care of Affordable Burial and Cremation, P.O. Box 513, Newport, OR 97365.
