Eddyville’s huge turnout is big for whole school

There are rarely schools that can boast a track team that numbers half the student body. This year, Eddyville is one of them.

“Last year, we had six people on the team, now we’re at 27,” Eagles runner Brian Davidson said. “We almost have half the Eddyville high school.”

“It’s been really good for the morale of our high school,” said Eagles head coach Shelley Moore. “The kids that we have out are good kids, we’ve got some real competitors, too.”

One of those is Steven Robeson. Usually a sprinter, Robeson has started running the 400 meters, as well. His success in the event shocks even him.

“The four isn’t really my thing, it’s the one,” he said. “I’m trying the four; I’m surprised at how well I’m doing since I haven’t done it towards the end of the season.”
