Taft softball teeters, but takes 3-2 win over Philomath

Reeling and wobbling with a Philomath Warrior on third base, no outs and their three-run lead nearly vanished, Taft softball coach Dave Broderick walked to the circle in the top of the sixth inning and gathered his young team together for a conference.

He looked around at the youthful infield comprised of three sophomores, two juniors and his daughter, junior pitcher Emily Broderick and like a soothsaying crisis negotiator coached his team on how to get out of the threatening jam.
