Newport wins bid for wave energy site

NEWPORT—Northwest National Marine Renewable Energy Center Director Belinda Batten made a surprise announcement late Monday afternoon that Newport has been chosen to host the $25 million Pacific Marine Energy Center (PMEC) wave energy research site.
