The pressure on John Moore Road and 700 nearby residents is the result of a $21 million package of bonds, grants and loans arranged in 2007 to rebuild the International Terminal and revive the Port of Newport as a shipping center. NEWPORT – A resident who lives by a Bayfront intersection already busy with school buses, trucks and tourist traffic claims that a plan to direct more than 100 log trucks a day by his home will force him to live with ear plugs and drive him inside.
